Mace (Javitri) – Description
Javitri refers to mace, the delicate, lacy, red-orange covering (aril) that surrounds the nutmeg seed. Though it comes from the same fruit as nutmeg, mace has a more refined, slightly milder flavor and is considered a premium spice.

- Botanical Name: Myristica fragrans (same tree as nutmeg)
- Form: Thin, lacy, net-like strands (whole/blades) or ground powder
- Color: Bright red-orange (fresh) turning to orange-yellow/amber when dried
